The ATS

Believe. Inspire. Empower.

A Story for Excellence in Education and Community Spirit.

It’s an honor to have been able to work within the public school system to help support communications and outreach for student development and community building. Out of the schools in the Seattle Public Schools system Osborne Marsh has worked with, Alan T. Sugiyama High School (formerly South Lake High School) is dear to the heart. Osborne Marsh started working the South Lake back in 2019 as a hired consultant to support communication marketing and brand strategy with Former principal Dr. Laura Brown and Dr. Joe Powell (Asst. Principal)…then the Pandemic hit.

Being a small school with a small student population, SPS decided to make a name change as we emerged from era of COVID, and Osborne Marsh was hired to help reshape the schools brand and messaging to Alan T. Sujyama High School. The rest is history. Over the next 3 and a half years working with newly minted Principal Joe Powell, we created some “Good Trouble” as Dr. Powell loved to say (referencing John Lewis) with the goal to and remix how education could look and though the lens of a creative, collaborative approach with alignment to local arts organizations to form in-school learning and real world skill development and internships for careers in the arts and entertainment sectors.

Dr. Joe Powell, FMR Seattle Public Schools High School Principal

My partnership with Clayton & Osborne Marsh Design was established at a pivotal time. South Lake High School was on the trajectory for closure! The first step in our partnership was Clayton’s collaboration with the stakeholders throughout the rebranding process. Alan T. Sugiyama High School at South Lake (The ATS) was simply a service model school for credit recovery, and Clayton’s expertise and his capacity to embrace the new vision, mission, and core values ensured a direction for our new brand and promise.

In addition, Clayton’s collaboration with the district’s webmaster, teaching artists, staff, community, and community partners were aligned and communicated the ATS vision and brand. Clayton’s ability to collaborate and immerse himself in the traditional context of our public schools

foundations, allowed Clayton to envision and establish multiple means of communications and a brand that translated into transformation and innovation.

At the ATS, we remix how our students navigate education, and we’ve cast a wide net into our community to partner in the Performing Arts, Music, Radio, Film Making, Design and more… to engage our youth and provide opportunities for them to work alongside of industry professionals to develop transferable skills, networking and internships as a means of driving careers and post-secondary education.

Lastly, we are a family that Believe, Inspire, and Empower our students to look beyond the attainment of a diploma. Clayton Marsh’s partnership with the ATS has captured the evolution and essence of innovation and made it our brand!

“Clayton’s partnership was essential in transforming a service model school into a high school committed to maintaining small enrollment that fostered a family atmosphere, and a culture of Voice and Choice.

The first step in our partnership was Clayton’s collaboration with the stakeholders throughout the rebranding process. Alan T. Sugiyama High School at South Lake (The ATS) was simply a service model school for credit recovery, and Clayton’s expertise and his capacity to embrace the new vision, mission, and core values ensured that these essential elements were embedded in the website, gear, flyers, marketing, and social media (which were all nonexistent prior to our partnership with Clayton Marsh). Clayton’s marketing strategies and partnership has contributed to ATS becoming a destination”.
